Vicar's Letter
Revd. Keith Thornborough
Dear Friends,
I write the day after our PCC meeting. The sun is shining, in a mainly clear blue sky, and it’s beginning to feel a little bit warmer than it has for most of this last week, summer is on its way perhaps? How long will it last?
The verse of Scripture chosen for the start of our meeting yesterday was Proverbs 3:5-6
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.’
The purpose of The Book of Proverbs, written by Solomon, was to teach people how to attain wisdom, discipline, a prudent life and to do what is right, just, and fair.
These verses are wonderful words of encouragement for each one of us. God wants his people to be wise. He wants us to have positive, caring, and loving relationships with each other.
We have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to.
This month, the 17th sees the 110th anniversary of the laying of the Church Foundation Stone. We will celebrate together on the Sunday 14th and Wednesday 17th!
We give thanks to God for the vision, trust, and faith of the good people of Hightown at that time.
This month we also have the Hightown Show to look forward to, celebrating and sharing together the good things that God gives to us.
For our young people, it is the end of the school year. For some, moving classes and, for others, moving schools, or moving on to higher education or new opportunities. Please keep our children and young people in your prayers as they journey on.
For some of the ‘more mature’ members of our congregation it will also be a time of moving on to pastures new, to be nearer to family. We pray for them and wish them well. We, all of us, can always,
‘Trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding; in all our ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct our paths.’
God Bless
Keith.
